If Trump were to abandon Europe and retreat to ‘his hemisphere’, we would have to defend a continent and an ocean without Washington.

Less cumbersome than NATO but more robust in the event of a US withdrawal, a networked security architecture based on the proliferation and interconnection of voluntary coalitions could provide protection without the United States.
