Dr. Emilie El Khoury is an anthropologist and postdoctoral researcher at the *Centre for International and Defence Policy* (CIDP) at Queen’s University, specializing in gender issues, as well as terrorism, counterterrorism, and their impacts on victims (both direct and indirect), and in conflicts related to the Middle East, NATO, and international security. She is also a lecturer at the Royal Military College of Canada, where she teaches political science, geography, and research methodology to members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Currently, she plays a leading role in the major international [AMALTHEA](https://amaltheaproject.eu/) project (supported by Horizon Europe), conducting a comprehensive mapping of the scientific literature on terrorism. As a committed author, she regularly publishes her research in peer-reviewed journals, serves as a reviewer for various scientific journals, and is currently writing the book *Empathy: An Art of Living?*
