Stéphanie Martel is Assistant Professor of Political Studies – specializing in International Relations – at [Queen’s University](https://www.queensu.ca/politics/home), where she is the Director of the [Centre for International and Defence Policy](https://www.queensu.ca/cidp/home). She is a Distinguished Fellow at the Asia-Pacific Foundation of Canada. She serves as a Canadian representative in informal diplomacy dialogues such as the ASEAN Regional Forum’s Expert and Eminent Persons Group and the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. Her research focuses on multilateral diplomacy, security regionalism, and the role of discourse in the social construction of world politics, with a focus on Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific. He recent book titled Enacting the Security Community: ASEAN's Never-Ending Story was published in 2022 at Stanford University Press. Dr. Martel’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as*International Studies Quarterly, European Journal of International Relations, International Affairs, International Studies Perspectives, PS: Political Science & Politics, The Pacific Review, Monde Chinois*and*L’Espace Politique,* among others.
