Isabelle Côté

Isabelle Côté is a professor in the Department of Political Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Toronto in 2014 and was a postdoctoral fellow at KITLV (Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies) in Leiden, the Netherlands. Prior to that, she held several visiting research positions in China, Indonesia, Sweden, and Denmark. Her research focuses primarily on the role of demographic factors in general—and internal population movements in particular—in intra-state conflicts, nativist movements, and contentious politics around the world, with a special emphasis on East and Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America. She has published in numerous academic journals, including *PS: Political Science and Politics*; *Democratization*; *Civil Wars*; *Ethnopolitics*; and *Studies in Conflict and Terrorism*. Isabelle has previously served on the executive board of the Canadian Council for Southeast Asian Studies and ISA-Political Geography and Demography, and has also served as President of the Atlantic Provinces Political Science Association (APPSA). She has also received numerous teaching awards, including the Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Canadian Political Science Association.
