Diego Osorio developed Canada’s national training framework for peacekeeping and humanitarian action. He is co-founder of the CGIAR Climate Security Initiative—now the world’s leading platform linking science and policy on climate, food systems, and conflict. He brought 34 Colombian political leaders, business executives, civil society leaders, and government officials to Northern Ireland to show them firsthand that a peace process can succeed—in direct preparation for the 2016 Colombian Peace Agreement. He has been published in The Lancet Planetary Health and the International Review of the Red Cross. He trains the next generation of policymakers at six institutions across three countries.
An academic-practitioner with a combined 30 years of international, governmental, and academic experience—including 10 United Nations field missions across four continents, as well as work at the World Bank, NATO, CGIAR, and the Government of Canada—at the intersection of climate security, peacebuilding, governance, complexity science, and public policy. Currently holds adjunct professor positions at Bishop’s University, ENAP, and Laval University; associate member of the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Global Governance (CIRGoM). Harvard Weatherhead Fellow, 2023–2024. Bilingual in English and French; fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
