Marc Bigaouette joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1980, where he had an impressive 37-year career. He held numerous positions, including helicopter pilot for Special Operations Forces, project director for the acquisition of a fleet of medium- to heavy-lift helicopters (MHLH), officer in charge of Canadian helicopters in Afghanistan, and Commander of 15 Wing, where he was responsible for NATO flight training in Canada. He concluded his career as Canadian Air Attaché in the United Kingdom and as Defense Attaché in Iceland. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his leadership in Afghanistan.
Marc earned his bachelor’s degree in administration from the Royal Military College of Canada (1985) and a master’s degree in military arts and sciences from the U.S. Air Force University (2004). He is also a graduate of the Royal College of Defense Studies in the United Kingdom (2009).
After retiring from the military in 2017, Marc joined the Bell team as Senior Program Manager for the Optimized Weapon System Support (OWSS) program for the CH-146. In this role, he was responsible for the management, engineering, logistics, and maintenance of the RCAF’s Griffon fleet, consisting of 85 aircraft deployed across more than 10 locations in Canada and abroad.
As Director of Canadian Government Programs since June 2021, he is responsible for executing the Griffon Life Extension Project (GLLE) and ensuring the sustainability of the CH-146 fleet.
