Pierre Colautti is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Laval University in Quebec City under the co-supervision of Jonathan Paquin (Université Laval) and Alexander Lanoszka (University of Waterloo). He is an emerging scholar at the Network for Strategic Analysis (NSA) and a member of two other research centers, the Interdisciplinary Research Center on Global Governance (CIRGoM) and the Roméo Dallaire Chair on Civil Conflicts and Sustainable Peace. His research interests focus on foreign and defense policy, alliance dynamics, and strategic studies. Specifically, his dissertation examines alliances politics in the context of strategic uncertainty, with a focus on the concepts of cohesion and loyalty, and the relationship between the two. He is also particularly enthusiastic about methods, and especially on qualitative methods such as comparative methods (such as QCA) and single-case study methods (congruence and process tracing). His research has been funded by the FRQSC.
