Emmylou Sergent is currently completing a master’s degree in International Studies (Culture, Conflict and Peace) at the Université de Montréal. Passionate about issues of security, defence, bilateral cooperation and diplomacy, she has taken every opportunity to enrich her international education. Curious and keen to travel, she took part in a summer school at Thammasat University in Bangkok, focusing on the regional dynamics of ASEAN, and was an exchange student at Sciences Po Aix during her bachelor’s degree.
Professionally, she worked as an assistant to the commissioners at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, where she was involved in analyzing security risks and handling confidential files. More recently, she completed an internship at the French National Assembly in the Cooperation and Bilateral Issues Division. In this capacity, she contributed to the drafting of diplomatic and strategic notes, news monitoring and the organization of high-level official visits.
Active in a number of networks, she recently took part in the Personnalités d’Avenir France-Canada program on defence and diplomacy issues and joined the Comité France-Amériques. Her dual French-Canadian nationality enriches her intercultural vision of contemporary international relations.
